Where are the 2018 CrossFit Open Live Announcements & Who’s Competing?

CrossFit has released both the locations of the 2018 CrossFit Open Live Announcements and which athletes will be competing during the event.

Some major surprises this year include that last years winners and runner ups will not be featured in the Open Announcement and that Latin America has a guaranteed spot in the 2018 CrossFit Games…and by no coincidence the 18.1 CrossFit Open Announcement kick off is being held in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

18.1: Sam Briggs vs Kristin Holte

The Open kicks off with an Open Announcement rematch between Sam Briggs and Kristin Holte; we’ll have to wait until February 22 to see who wins this opening rematch.

18.2: Patrick Vellner vs Noah Ohlsen

The second workout, 18.2 will be held at CrossFit R.A.W. in Gibsonia, PA on March 1. We’ll see two of this years favorites, Patrick Vellner and Noah Ohlsen square off for the best 18.2 time.

18.3: Kyle Kasperbauer vs Neal Maddox

A contest between last year’s 35-39 Masters Division champion Kyle Kasperbauer and second place finisher Neal Maddox will be intense as they ramp up for the 2018 CrossFit games, with 2018’s Masters winner claiming $25k.

18.3 will be held at Skyline CrossFit in the US’s fourth largest city, Houston, TX on March 8th, 2018.

18.4: Scott Panchik vs Bjorgvin Gudmundsson

Two of the hardest working CrossFit competitors who almost always finish in the top 10, Scott Panchik and Bjorgin Gudmundsson will battle it out at CrossFit Fury in Goodyear, AZ on March 15, 2018.

18.5: Annie Thorisdottir vs Katrin Davidsdottir vs Sara Sigmundsdottir

To close out the 2018 CrossFit Open Live Announcements three of the most dominant women in the sport will go to battle. Two time champion Annie Thorisdottir, Two time champion Katrin Davidsdottir, and Two time podium finisher Sara Sigmundsdottir will compete in their home country of Iceland at CrossFit Reykjavik on March 22, 2018.
