What is Crossfit?
Crossfit is defined as “constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity.”
At a very basic level Crossfit workouts challenge you to train with a variety of exercises at high intensity for time.
The sport does not involve a lot of equipment; to get started you just need a strong work ethic, a desire to challenge yourself, and in the future possibly a box.
The Crossfit Box – The Basics
A box is a warehouse type open gym that has several conventional and non conventional types of training equipment that are used for a variety of workouts.
It is called a box because due to the open floor plan and the fact that it typically has four walls with a roll up door in the back. Here is an example;
If you are an enthusiast of Crossfit, then you know that it is beyond just a work out method. Crossfit is a way of life. It makes you healthy, fit and more focused in your mind as well.
Practicing Crossfit involves training intensively, eating well, pushing your limits, and being the best version of yourself that you can be.
A training center which is especially dedicated to CrossFit is called a box. Even as a work out a method, these boxes are more focused on what you do rather than where, how, or with which equipment you do it.
Crossfit involves a variety of different and highly intensive movements to target every part of your body.
Your typical box is usually made up of supporting and like-minded individuals; seen as more of a community of athletes, cross fitters at different levels, who help each other continue to be better, fitter, and healthier.
Crossfit Box – Community
Crossfit comes with a worldwide supportive community. Those who have actively enjoyed the results of Crossfit are very faithful to this measurable and meaningful way of achieving fitness rather than doing random workouts hoping for the best.
The box that you are joining locally will also have a passionate community who will help you with your journey.
When you attempt at the physically intensive workouts together, you are usually bonded with a mutual passion.
The other cross fitters you meet in a big box gym will help you motivate yourself when you are not feeling 100% and to push yourself to do higher and more intensive workouts that will make you physically stronger and a more focused person.
It will be a network of driven individuals who are making active positive changes for their lives and hence a great community to be a part of.
How many times have you joined a regular gym and left sometime after because you are spending too much money in membership fees and not seeing results?
Joining a box will ensure that you are always kept motivated, doing the right workouts in order to reach your results, which results in a visibly fitter physique and an increase and strength and endurance.
Your training will go from moderate to high intensity at your box as you make your progress, and when you see how it transforms your body and fitness levels, you are likely to be self-motivated and do better.
